Accommodation In Frankston

There isn't just one way to find student accommodation.

Students looking for accommodation in Frankston have several different types of housing to consider. The right option depends on how long you're staying, your preferred living arrangement, availability and your individual circumstances.

For many students, dedicated student accommodation is a logical place to start. These properties are specifically aimed at students and can provide an alternative to university-managed accommodation.

If dedicated student housing is full or doesn't suit you, shared accommodation is another option. Students can search for individual rooms in houses or apartments throughout Frankston and surrounding areas.

Short-term accommodation can also be useful when you need somewhere temporary, particularly while waiting for a longer-term room or arriving in the area before you've secured permanent accommodation.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I find that this accommodation really reasonable. There is own fridge in your room with quite large size that you can store your daily food. The AC is already equipped inside which you do not need to worry about the temperature. Finally, the best thing is that it is around 4 minutes away from the accommodation to the uni.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My experience at MPG LODGE Is amazing. I’ve been a student studying there for just about 1.5 years now, and I wouldn’t say anywhere else. It’s a 2 minute walk to my uni, and so convenient as it’s nearby to cafes and shops. I would definitely recommend!!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great lodge for students to stay while they are studying. Price is very reasonable and the lodge has everything you need for a great experience as a student. The kitchen has all the cleaning supplies and a dishwasher. The main TV in the lounge has all the streaming services available, the rooms have AC and everything is kept clean and tidy. It is very close to Monash uni and walking distance from everything you need. The owner is very friendly and responds promptly to any questions. I would absolutely recommend this lodge if you are a student and need a great place to stay for a reasonable price!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Was struggling to find an accommodation near my Uni as I wasn’t able to get a spot on campus. Thanks to MPG Lodge, it made my schooling experience much more convenient, given the 5 min walking distance from my campus. Room and facilities here are great (washer/dryer, cooking utensils, netflix all included and cleaning service once a week) Easy access to transportation and shopping malls and landlords are really friendly too! Highly recommend this place :)

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I'm also a renter here, and I love it. The host is extremely helpful and friendly. I've asked them lots of questions, and the host happily answers them. The facilities are great. I love the coin service here. It really comes in handy when I have no coin to use the washing machine. I have no complaints about living here.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I booked this place for my son when he was studying at Monash Peninsula. The room has its own aircon and heating, which is hard to do without, especially in Melbourne. The room was great, it was clean and professionally managed.
I have recommended to my friends.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I send my daughter here while she was studying at Monash University Peninsula Campus.

Firstly, thank you to the management. They were professional and easy to deal with and made sure that I felt comfortable as a parent.

My daughter loved the accommodation, it was always kept clean and tidy, it was a very short walk to her campus to study and she made some great friends.

Once again thank you Peninsula Student Living, we highly recommend this to any other students at Monash Peninsula.

Understand Your Options

Types of student accommodation in Frankston.

Before comparing individual properties, it helps to understand the main types of accommodation available to students.

Dedicated Student Accommodation

Privately operated accommodation designed specifically for students. This can be a useful first option for students wanting a student-focused living environment outside university-managed housing.

Good starting point

University Accommodation

Students may also investigate accommodation managed or recommended by their education provider. Availability, eligibility and application processes should be checked directly with the relevant institution.

Check with your institution

Shared Accommodation

Renting a room in an existing house or apartment can broaden your search beyond dedicated student housing. Room-sharing platforms can help students discover listings throughout Frankston.

Broader room search

Private Rental

Some students rent an entire property individually or with other students. This is a different arrangement from dedicated student accommodation and may involve separate utility and household responsibilities.

Independent living

Short-Term Accommodation

Hotels, serviced accommodation and short-stay platforms can provide temporary accommodation if you haven't secured a longer-term room before arriving in Frankston.

Useful temporary option

Staying With Friends Or Family

Some students stay temporarily with friends or family while studying or while searching for longer-term accommodation closer to their education provider.

Circumstance dependent

Choosing Accommodation

Don't choose a room on price alone.

The cheapest advertised room isn't automatically the best value. Look at the overall living arrangement, location and costs before deciding.

Location

Consider how easily you can get to your university, TAFE, placement, work and the places you regularly need to visit.

Total weekly cost

Look beyond the advertised room price. Ask what is included and what other ongoing costs you may need to pay.

Length of stay

Consider how long you actually need accommodation and whether the arrangement suits your study dates.

Living arrangement

Think about whether you prefer dedicated student housing, a shared house, independent rental or a temporary accommodation arrangement.

What the room includes

Check furnishings, facilities, common areas and any inclusions that are important to you.

Current availability

A property appearing online doesn't necessarily mean a suitable room is available for your dates. Confirm availability directly.

Accommodation FAQ

Student accommodation questions.

These answers provide general guidance. Always confirm property-specific information, prices and availability directly with the relevant provider or platform.

What student accommodation is available in Frankston?

Students in Frankston can investigate several accommodation types including dedicated private student accommodation, university-managed accommodation, shared housing, private rentals and short-term accommodation.

This directory currently features MPG Lodge and Peninsula Student Living as private student accommodation options, with Flatmates.com.au and Airbnb included as additional places to broaden an accommodation search.

Where should I start looking for student accommodation?

A practical starting point is to check any accommodation provided or recommended by your education provider and compare it with private student accommodation around Frankston.

If those options aren't available or don't suit your circumstances, broaden the search to shared accommodation and private rentals.

What if student accommodation is full?

Availability changes, so contact accommodation providers directly before ruling them out.

If dedicated student accommodation is full, you can also investigate individual rooms through share-accommodation platforms and consider short-term accommodation while continuing your search.

Is shared accommodation the same as student accommodation?

Not necessarily. Dedicated student accommodation is specifically intended for students, while shared accommodation may simply be a room in a house or apartment shared with other people.

Can I use Airbnb as student accommodation?

Airbnb is primarily a short-term accommodation platform rather than dedicated student housing. It may be useful for a temporary stay while searching for longer-term accommodation.

Individual listing prices, availability and terms vary and should be checked directly on the platform.

How do I find a room in a share house in Frankston?

Room-sharing platforms such as Flatmates.com.au can be used to search for individual rooms and shared accommodation around Frankston and surrounding suburbs.

Does Frankston Student Accommodation manage the properties listed here?

Accommodation providers and external platforms manage their own properties, listings, prices, enquiries, availability and arrangements.

How do I know if a room is currently available?

Contact the accommodation provider or check the relevant listing platform directly. Room availability can change and shouldn't be assumed from information on a general directory page.
