Local accommodation options for Monash, Chisholm and Peninsula Health
Studying at Monash University Peninsula Campus, attending Chisholm TAFE Frankston or completing a placement or internship with Peninsula Health? Frankston offers several ways to find a suitable room, from university-provided accommodation to dedicated student housing and private rentals.
Different courses. Different schedules. One local accommodation search.
Frankston is home to several major education and healthcare destinations, including Monash University Peninsula Campus, Chisholm TAFE Frankston and Peninsula Health facilities. People attending these institutions may have very different schedules, but they often face the same practical question: where should they live?
Some students prefer university-provided accommodation. Others choose dedicated private student housing, a room in a shared rental, or a shorter-term arrangement that suits a placement or internship.
There is no single accommodation option that suits everyone. The best fit depends on your budget, transport, expected length of stay, access to cooking and laundry facilities, and whether you need a quiet space to study or rest after shifts.
Monash University Peninsula Campus
Students can compare university-provided accommodation, dedicated private student housing and rooms advertised through private rental platforms.
- Check the actual property address and walking route
- Compare weekly costs and included bills
- Ask about furnishing, heating and cooling
Living near campus without limiting yourself to one provider.
Monash Peninsula students may start by exploring accommodation offered through the university. However, university-provided housing is only one of the available pathways in the surrounding Frankston area.
Dedicated private accommodation can also be worth comparing, particularly for students who want furnished rooms, shared facilities or accommodation designed around student living. For example, students can read about MPG Lodge accommodation for Monash Peninsula students and explore Peninsula Student Living's Monash Peninsula accommodation information.
Neither university-provided accommodation nor private student housing should automatically be assumed to be the closest option. The location of the individual property matters, as some accommodation is situated around surrounding streets rather than directly on campus.
Students can also consider private room listings, but should check the lease arrangement, household rules and whether utility costs are included before committing.
Practical accommodation for study, training and everyday life.
Students attending Chisholm TAFE Frankston may be balancing classroom learning, practical training, part-time employment and travel. For some, the most important consideration is keeping the journey to campus straightforward. Others may prioritise affordability or flexibility.
Chisholm students can explore private accommodation options such as MPG Lodge's Chisholm TAFE Frankston accommodation guide and Peninsula Student Living's information for Chisholm students.
Ordinary shared rentals can also be suitable, especially for students who prefer living with a smaller household or who have an established group of housemates. Check transport routes, minimum stay requirements, bond conditions and any additional household expenses.
When comparing rooms, focus on the total cost of living rather than rent alone. A lower advertised price may exclude electricity, internet or other everyday essentials.
Chisholm TAFE Frankston
A practical accommodation search should reflect your timetable, transport needs and expected study period.
- Consider public transport and walking routes
- Check minimum stays and lease flexibility
- Budget for utilities, internet and transport
Peninsula Health placements and internships
Healthcare placements can involve early starts, changing rosters and different placement lengths, making location and living conditions especially important.
- Confirm the actual placement site
- Consider travel at early or late hours
- Ask about quiet hours and stay duration
Accommodation that works around placement schedules.
Students, interns and trainees completing placements with Peninsula Health may need accommodation that suits a different routine from a typical university timetable. Early shifts, late finishes and varying placement lengths can make the details of a property particularly important.
Before choosing a room, confirm which Peninsula Health site you will attend and how you will travel there. The closest accommodation to one facility may not be the most convenient for another.
Local private accommodation providers publish information relevant to healthcare placements, including MPG Lodge's Peninsula Health internship accommodation guide and Peninsula Student Living's Peninsula Health internship accommodation information.
Depending on the placement duration, a room in a private rental or a flexible short-stay arrangement may also be appropriate. Confirm minimum booking periods, availability, cancellation terms and any eligibility requirements directly with the provider.
The right accommodation depends on where you need to be — and how you need to live.
A Monash student, a Chisholm trainee and a Peninsula Health intern might all find suitable accommodation in Frankston, but the best option for each may be different. Compare real travel routes, total weekly costs, facilities and stay conditions before applying.
Four common ways to find a room around Frankston.
University-provided accommodation
An option for eligible university students who prefer accommodation arranged through their institution. Check eligibility, availability and the specific property location.
Dedicated private student accommodation
Purpose-oriented accommodation for students, often with furnished rooms and communal facilities. Inclusions and eligibility differ between providers.
Shared rentals and room listings
Rooms in privately advertised properties may suit a range of budgets and household preferences. Check bills, agreements and who manages the property.
Shorter-term stays
For placements and temporary study periods, consider whether a provider offers suitable shorter stays and confirm the total price and booking terms.
What to check when comparing local accommodation.
Travel to your actual destination
Check the route to your campus or placement site, not just the distance to central Frankston. Think about your travel times and whether public transport suits your schedule.
Understand the full weekly cost
Confirm whether electricity, water, internet and other bills are included. Compare bonds, deposits, furnishing and any additional charges.
Match the room to your routine
Ask about quiet hours, heating and cooling, bathrooms, kitchen access, laundry, minimum stays and any requirements specific to your course or placement.

I find that this accommodation really reasonable. There is own fridge in your room with quite large size that you can store your daily food. The AC is already equipped inside which you do not need to worry about the temperature. Finally, the best thing is that it is around 4 minutes away from the accommodation to the uni.Posted on Google![]()

My experience at MPG LODGE Is amazing. I’ve been a student studying there for just about 1.5 years now, and I wouldn’t say anywhere else. It’s a 2 minute walk to my uni, and so convenient as it’s nearby to cafes and shops. I would definitely recommend!!Posted on Google![]()

Great lodge for students to stay while they are studying. Price is very reasonable and the lodge has everything you need for a great experience as a student. The kitchen has all the cleaning supplies and a dishwasher. The main TV in the lounge has all the streaming services available, the rooms have AC and everything is kept clean and tidy. It is very close to Monash uni and walking distance from everything you need. The owner is very friendly and responds promptly to any questions. I would absolutely recommend this lodge if you are a student and need a great place to stay for a reasonable price!Posted on Google![]()

Was struggling to find an accommodation near my Uni as I wasn’t able to get a spot on campus. Thanks to MPG Lodge, it made my schooling experience much more convenient, given the 5 min walking distance from my campus. Room and facilities here are great (washer/dryer, cooking utensils, netflix all included and cleaning service once a week) Easy access to transportation and shopping malls and landlords are really friendly too! Highly recommend this place :)Posted on Google![]()

I'm also a renter here, and I love it. The host is extremely helpful and friendly. I've asked them lots of questions, and the host happily answers them. The facilities are great. I love the coin service here. It really comes in handy when I have no coin to use the washing machine. I have no complaints about living here.Posted on Google![]()

I send my daughter here while she was studying at Monash University Peninsula Campus. Firstly, thank you to the management. They were professional and easy to deal with and made sure that I felt comfortable as a parent. My daughter loved the accommodation, it was always kept clean and tidy, it was a very short walk to her campus to study and she made some great friends. Once again thank you Peninsula Student Living, we highly recommend this to any other students at Monash Peninsula.Posted on Google![]()
